Cam Whitmore isn’t letting his draft disappointment in June dim his expectations for his rookie season in 2023-24.

Whitmore, who fell to the Houston Rockets at No. 20 in the 2023 draft, made an instant impression on the NBA community in Summer League over the past few weeks. He won MVP honors in Las Vegas, averaging 19.3 points per game across 5.2 contests. As Whitmore now looks ahead to his first year as a professional, the Villanova product is eyeing a far loftier honor.

"I'd definitely say that a goal of mine is to win Rookie of the Year," Whitmore told ESPN's Malika Andrews.
